Before SOAR

Before you arrive on campus for your SOAR session, you should:

  • Pay your $100 enrollment deposit.
You will not be able to meet with an academic advisor or register for classes until this deposit is paid in full. You can make this payment at SOAR check-in.
  • Complete your online student health form.
Marian's required student health form is available online. Complete and submit the form by Aug. 1.
  • Find overnight accommodations if you are a guest attending a two-day program.
Students are required to stay overnight in one of our residence halls free of charge. Family members or guests can take advantage of Marian University discounts at these local hotels and lodging accommodations.

What to Bring to SOAR

  • Cell phone and charger
Posting SOAR selfies to your Snapchat story, tweeting about how much you love your new school (using #MUSOAR18), and adding contact information for all your new friends will drain your battery! Don't forget to bring your charger, especially if you'll be staying overnight.
  • Dress for the weather
We don’t want you to be caught out in the rain, so bringing an umbrella is always a good idea. Although it may be hot and sunny out, it can get cold inside the air conditioned buildings at Marian as well, so a light jacket or sweater won’t hurt either.
  • Comfortable shoes for walking
Although Marian has a small campus, you may have to walk to a few separate buildings during SOAR. Especially if you are attending a two-day program, we advise wearing comfortable shoes.
  • Questions
We recommend starting a list now of all the questions you have about Marian, adding to it throughout the year as you think of more, and then bringing all of those to SOAR. We want you to be able to leave SOAR will all of your questions answered so you feel confident and ready to start your journey at Marian!

Additional things you'll need for two-day, overnight programs

  • A change of clothes for day two
  • Comfortable clothes for evening activities and sleeping
If sand volleyball is your game, we highly recommend bringing athletic shorts.
  • Toiletries, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, glasses, contact solution, facewash, shower products, a towel, and anything else you need to stay clean and comfortable.
  • Any prescriptions or medications you need
  • A blanket
Pillows and bed linens are provided, but we recommend bringing a blanket as well to keep warm.
