Claire Humphrey

Transfer Admission Counselor

Claire graduated from Clay High School in South Bend, Indiana. After high school, she attended Holy Cross College, where she received an undergraduate degree in liberal studies, and then attended Marian University, where she received her graduate degree in teaching. Prior to working at Marian University, she taught fourth grade and kindergarten in lower income community schools in Indianapolis.

What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the side porch of Stokely Mansion. I enjoy sitting outside to have lunch during the warm summer months.

What do you like best about Indianapolis?
I love the different cultural districts in Indianapolis. There are always so many fun events to participate in and new restaurants to try. I love to explore and seek out new experiences!

Who would you rather have for a roommate—a zombie, a vampire, a gremlin, or bigfoot?
I would want bigfoot as a roommate because nobody would mess with our dynamic duo!

Where would you most like to visit?
I would like to take a cross country road trip out west. I'd go to Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Yellowstone and Bryce Canyon National Parks; the Grand Canyon; and Sedona, Arizona.

What is a favorite memory of your time at Marian University?
My favorite memory of my time at Marian University is graduation. I love hearing pomp and circumstance and watching the graduates process. I work with adults who are attending college for the first time, and they often have many barriers to overcome. Seeing them graduate gives me a sense of pride. They did it.

What advice would you offer to incoming transfer students?
Participate. Go outside your comfort zone. Cherish the memories.

What is one question that every student should ask during the college search?
Why should I attend this institution and how will I be supported as an alumnae?
