Marian College Department of Athletics Mission Statement

The mission of the Marian College Athletic Department is to expand opportunities for student development beyond the academic program, while embodying Franciscan values and NAIA character core values. Athletic participation at Marian College promotes self-discipline, self-confidence, leadership, sportsmanship, fellowship, teamwork, and competition: qualities that transfer to lifelong success.




National Affiliations

Marian College offers athletic and academic scholarships to student-athletes who meet need, skill, and eligibility requirements. For more information, contact the individual coach.

Marian College competes as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in all sports with the exception of cycling. The NAIA offers national championships in sports such as football, baseball, softball, and men's and women's basketball for institutions similar to Marian College.

Marian College cycling competes at the national level as a part of USA Cycling. The Knights compete during the fall season on the competition track and have earned the distinction of National Track Cycling Champion on 10 occasions including back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007.



 


  
Conference Affiliations

Marian College competes as a member of the Mid-Central College Conference in 10 sports including men's and women's basketball.  Marian College has the most temperate climate of the 10 member institutions being the southern most institution. Marian College has competed as a member of the MCC since 1988-89.

Marian College football competes as a member of the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League. The MSFA is comprised of two leagues with 16 members (8 in each league). Annually, the MSFA Mideast League has produced national championship contenders and is one of the toughest leagues in the nation.

Marian College cycling competes in the MidWest Collegiate Cycling Conference during the spring road competition season and the National Collegiate Cycling Association (NCCA) in the fall track season. Major institutions like Indiana University, Michigan State University, and the University of Wisconsin compete against Marian College in some of the toughest conditions and road races in the nation.
