FORT COLLINS, Colorado - The Marian College cycling team sat in ninth place after day one at the 2009 USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships in Fort Collins, Colorado on Friday.
The Knights earned 79 points on day one and sit 64 points back of leader Lees-McRae.
Freshman Adam Leibovitz (Indianapolis/Lawrence Central) led the way with a third-place finish in the men's A race. Senior David Williams (Grand Rapids, Michigan/Catholic Central) finished in 33rd place.
Sophomore Taylor Brown (Fleetwood, Pennsylvania/Oley Valley) and sophomore Alex Wieseler (Oconomowoc, Wisconsin/Arrowhead) finished in 80th and 81st, respectively.
In the women's A race, junior Rebecca Finley (Des Moines, Iowa/Home-schooled) finished in 26th place to lead the Knights. Freshman Sinead Miller (South Park, Pennsylvania/South Park) finished in 36th place, while senior Mallory Burrows (Greenwood, Indiana/Center Grove) finished in 39th place and sophomore Megan Somerville (Norwalk, California/Santa Fe) finished in 40th place.
Senior Sierra Siebenlist (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) finished in 55th place, and sophomore Anna Sklorenko (Indianapolis/Bishop Chatard) finished in 56th place.
The Knights will take part in the criterium portion of the championships on Saturday.
