Tucker and Wheeler honored by MCC - 2/23/2009

 
INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian College men's basketball team had a pair of its players honored by the Mid-Central College Conference on Sunday.
 

Sophomore Jordan Tucker was named All-MCC third team.

Sophomore Jordan Tucker (Kirklin, Indiana/Clinton Central) and freshman Jameson Wheeler (Plainfield, Indiana/Plainfield) both picked up All-MCC honors.
 
Tucker, who was named All-Conference third team, was the team's leading scorer after he averaged 15.8 points per game. His average ranked him seventh in the MCC.
 
Tucker shot 43 percent (138-for-324) from the field and 36 percent (43-for-120) from three-point range for the season. Tucker also tied for the team lead with 3.4 reboudns per game. This is the first time Tucker has been honored by the conference.
 
Wheeler was named to the MCC All-Newcomer Team after a stellar rookie campaign. Wheeler is the second-straight Knight to be named to the All-Newcomer Team after Anthony Furlin was named last season.

Wheeler led the Knights with 4.5 assists per game (117 in 26 games) while averaging 5.6 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per game. Wheeler had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.7-to-1 in 26 games.
 
The Knights finished the 2008-09 campaign with an 11-15 overall record and a 2-14 mark in MCC play. The Knights were 9-1 out of conference in a schedule that featured eight teams that were ranked in the NAIA Division II Top 25 at one point during the season.
 
The Knights defeated then-No. 12-ranked Indiana Tech in December and nearly pulled off an upset over then-No. 2-ranked Bethel College in early January.
