SPRING ARBOR, Michigan - The Marian College men's basketball team traveled to Spring Arbor University for their 2008-09 Mid-Central College Conference season opener and fell to the Cougars, 76-72, in overtime.
The Knights fall to 4-2 on the season and 0-1 in MCC play.
After falling behind by eight, 35-27, at halftime, the Knights battled back to draw even as the horn sounded, 63-63. However, the Cougars proved too much in overtime as they earned the 76-72 victory.
Junior Heath Chamberlain (Brazil, Indiana/Northview) finished with a team-high 21 points and had three rebounds while sophomore Jordan Tucker (Kirklin, Indiana/Clinton Central) finished with 17 points and a team-high five rebounds.
Freshman Alex Sylvester (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) added 12 points in 22 minutes. Freshman Jameson Wheeler (Plainfield, Indiana/Plainfield) finished with six points, a team-high five rebounds, and a game-high 11 assists. He had the first double-digit assist game since November 10, 2006 when Derek James had 10 assists against IU-Northwest.
The Knights are back in action on Tuesday, December 2 when they play host to Grace College. The game will be broadcast LIVE online at
