INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian College men's basketball team made it three straight victories after a 105-53 victory over the Kuyper College Cougars on Monday night at the Physical Education Center.
 
The Knights improved to 7-4 on the season with the victory.
 
After falling behind 13-8 early in the game, the Knights battled back to tie the close game, 21-21, with 7:51 remaining in the first half. The Knights then went on a 18-1 run to take a commanding 39-22 lead with 4:19 to go.
 
The Knights closed the half by outscoring the Cougars, 31-11, over the final 7:51 to take a 52-32 lead into the locker room.
 
With a 20-point lead to open the second half, the Knights poured it on by outscoring Kuyper 28-8 over the first 8:49 of the second frame. The Knights cruised to the 52-point victory, 105-53, and have now posted two 100-point games this season.
 
Sophomore Anthony Furlin (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern) tallied a career-high 29 points and had two assists and three steals in 25 minutes of action. It was his seventh 20-point game and the 19th double-digit scoring game of his career.
 
Freshman Alex Sylvester (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) continued his hot streak with 18 points and had a game-high five steals. Junior J.R. Howell (Lapel, Indiana/Lapel) tallied 12 points and had three rebounds.
 
Sophomore Brandon Malone (Indianapolis/North Central) nearly had a triple-double after he scored eight points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and handed out eight assists for the Knights.
 
Freshman Jameson Wheeler (Plainfield, Indiana/Plainfield) had six assists in just 16 minutes of action.
 
The Knights return to the Physical Education Center on Friday and Saturday when they host the Marian College Holiday Tournament. The Knights will battle Calumet College of Saint Joseph on Friday at 6 p.m., while Berea College and IU-East will battle at 8 p.m.
 
The consolation game is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the championship at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Friday's game can be heard LIVE at www.marian.edu/athletics by clicking the Broadcast link.
 
Saturday's game, either the consolation of championship, will air LIVE on XL 950AM with Brad Wochomurka (p-b-p) and Director of Athletics Joe Haklin (color) calling all the action beginning 10 minutes before tip-off.
