Knights fall at Goshen, 69-54 - 1/17/2009

 
 
GOSHEN, Indiana - The Marian College men's basketball team dropped its fourth straight game, 69-54, at Goshen College on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Knights fell to 9-8 overall and 0-7 in Mid-Central College Conference.
 
The Knights fell behind by 10 points, 15-5, with 11:33 remaining in the first half. After cutting the gap to seven, 17-10, the Maple Leafs went on a 9-0 run to open a 16-point lead, 26-10, with 8:00 remaining in the first stanza. The Knights cut the lead back to 11, 33-22, with 58 seconds remaining in the half and that was the score at the interval.
 
The Knights cut the lead to six, 46-40, over the first 6:40 of the second half go back up 13, 55-42, with 9:38 remaining on the strength of a 9-2 run. The Knight got no closer than nine, 57-48 with 5:20 remaining, as Goshen closed out the 69-54 victory.
 
Sophomore Anthony Furlin (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern) had a team-high 16 points while sophomore Gabriel Cotton (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern) notched his first career double-double with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
The Knights come back home on Tuesday night when they host Huntington University at the Physical Education Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. The game will air LIVE on XL 950 (WXLW) with Brad Wochomurka (p-b-p) and Director of Athletics Joe Haklin (color) calling all the action at 6:45 p.m.
