INDIANAPOLIS - The final game of the first half of the Mid-Central College Conference season had Huntington at the Physical Education Center on Tuesday night.
The Foresters jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as the Knights could not overcome early shooting woes in a 75-52 defeat. The Knights fell to 9-9 overall and 0-8 in the Mid-Central College Conference.
Over the first 4:34 of the game, the Foresters took an 11-2 lead as the Knights were held scoreless from the 18:12 mark until the 15:03 mark when a put-back by junior Brandon Buscher made the score 11-4.
The Foresters embarked on an 8-0 run over the next 3:30 to take a 15-point lead, 19-4. The Knights scored the next four points, but Huntington went on another 8-0 run to take an 18-point lead, 31-13, with 3:28 left in the first half.
The Knights went into the locker room down 35-15 as they shot just 20 percent (6-for-30) and were outrebounded 28-16.
Marian College played catch-up for the rest of the game and, while the Knights played even with the Foresters in the second half, the 20-point deficit proved insurmountable as the Foresters cruised to the 75-52 victory.
Sophomore Anthony Furlin (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern) led the Knights with 12 points while freshman Alex Sylvester (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) added nine points. Junior Brandon Buscher (Chesterton, Indiana/Chesterton) added eight points and a team-high five rebounds for the Knights.
The Knights remain at home on Saturday when the No. 15-ranked Spring Arbor University Cougars come to the Physical Education Center. The Knights fell to SAU earlier in the season in overtime, 76-72. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m., and the game will be called LIVE at
