RENSSELAER, Indiana - The Marian College men's soccer team traveled to Saint Joseph's College on Wednesday night and struggled in a 3-0 defeat. The Knights are now 1-1 on the season.
The Pumas jumped on the Knights quickly after posting the game's first marker in the first five minutes to take a 1-0 lead. A header off a set piece gave SJC the early advantage. A foul late in the half allowed the Pumas a free kick and they took full advantage to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
A foul in the penalty box with five minutes remaining iced the 3-0 victory for the Pumas as they calmly converted the penalty kick.
The Knights travel to Lebanon, Illinois, this weekend for the McKendree University tournament. The Knights take on No. 17-ranked McKendree (3-0) at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. EST) on Saturday. Marian College finishes the tournament with Lindenwood University, which is also receiving votes in the NAIA poll, on Sunday at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. EST).
