FORT WAYNE, Indiana - The Marian College women's basketball team traveled to the University of Saint Francis for an afternoon tilt at the Hutzell Athletic Center on Saturday.
The Knights fell to the oversized Cougars, 70-56, to fall to 18-6 overall and 6-5 in MCC play.
The Knights could not get much going on the road as the Cougars' front line proved too much scoring a total of 37 of the team's 70 points.
The Cougars got their lead as high as 12 in the first half and went into the locker room with a 30-20 lead.
The Knights were able to cut the lead to six, 41-35, with 13:09 remaining, but the Cougars went on a 10-0 run to open a 16-point lead, 51-35, with 10:45 remaining in the game.
The Knights were able to cut as close as nine, 61-52, with 3:16 remaining, but the Cougars were able to coast to the 70-56 victory.
Senior Jessica Carr (New Castle, Indiana/New Castle) led the Knights with 15 points while junior Kristin Houck (Brownsburg, Indiana/Brownsburg) added 10 for the Knights.
Junior Megan Egenolf (Plainfield, Indiana/Plainfield) finished with a team-high seven rebounds while freshman Emily Smithson (Selma, Indiana/Wapahani) added nine points for the Knights.
The Knights return to the Physical Education Center on Wednesday night when they host the No. 18-ranked Taylor University Trojans. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. The game can be heard LIVE at
