Federal Work Study Process

  1. Determine your Federal Work Study (FWS) eligibility. Review your award letter in CAMS. If eligible, your award letter will state “Federal College Work Study.”
  2. Establish your account on KnightWork using the above instructions and submit your resume for review and approval by uploading it under "documents."
  3. Apply for the specially-marked Federal Work Study positions on KnightWork.
  4. Apply for FWS positions based on the job responsibilities, qualifications, interests, and skills. FWS positions are competitive, so apply early for several opportunities.
    • Follow application instructions and deadlines implicitly. Some positions may require a resume, cover letter, or interview as part of the hiring process.
    • You may request an appointment with The Exchange staff for assistance.

Internship for Credit Process

If you are seeking approval to earn credit for an internship, remember that the best approach is to touch base with your faculty internship advisor and/or The Exchange before the internship begins. For a full breakdown of the process, see our Earning Credit for an Internship Handout. The approval process for the school of business requires that supervisors post the job opening on KnightWork and extend the position offer digitally. Instructions for supervisors may be found on the KnightWork Posting page.

Request an appointment with an Exchange career coach for additional help gaining internship approval.
