Marian University-Bound High School Senior Nominated for St.Vincent Spirit of Sports Dedication Award

by Katie Bradley | Jun 11, 2013

According to the Indianapolis Recorder, Broad Ripple High School senior and Marian University-bound Jamonte Hampton has been nominated for the St.Vincent Spirit of Sport Awards, Dedication Award.

The Dedication Award is for a team or an individual who has shown unwavering commitment in overcoming the odds for an unusually successful outcome.

Hampton told the Indianapolis Recorder, “When I learned I was nominated, I felt like all the hard work I had put forth had paid off. I never did it to get recognition, but that recognition is still humbling.”

Hampton is an exemplary student who works hard in everything that he does. Not only has he excelled in athletics (he has played football all four years of high school, basketball for three years, and track for two years), but he is also a straight A student set to graduate with a 4.00 GPA, and also manages to work 20 hours a week at Arby’s.

After he graduates from Broad Ripple High School, he plans to attend Marian University to study business management and play football for the NAIA national championship football team.
