by Katie Bradley | Nov 01, 2012

On Friday, October 19, 2012, nearly 2,000 members of the community filled the Grand Ballroom of the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis to commemorate the history and celebrate the future of Marian University.

Highlights of the evening included the announcement of $153 million raised in a comprehensive fundraising effort that was started in 2002 and the securing of $8.5 million in scholarships in recognition of our anniversary.

The gala was also the occasion for the 20th annual Mary McNulty Young ’47 Opportunities for Excellence Scholarship Dinner, where many awards were given out. Among those awards was the Franciscan Values Award received by the Lilly family and the John A. Purdue Innovator of the Year Award received by Archbishop Emeritus Daniel M. Buechlein.

President Daniel J. Elsener, who gave the keynote address, described the occasion as “truly a night to remember.”
