The Richard G. Lugar Franciscan Center for Global Studies

The Richard G. Lugar Franciscan Center for Global Studies presents:

"Why Climate Change should be a Moral Issue for People of Faith"

Patrick Carolan is currently the executive director of the Franciscan Action Network. The Franciscan Action Network (FAN), was created in 2007 by Franciscan leaders, sisters, friars, Secular Franciscans, and Franciscan-hearted people to create a “unified Franciscan voice for justice.” FAN is a vehicle for Franciscans and Franciscan-hearted people to organize for social and environmental justice.

Carolan resides in both Washington, D.C. and Stratford, Connecticut. Before coming to FAN he worked in church ministry at St. James Catholic Church in Stratford. He served as president of a Connecticut state employee Union in the 80's and early 90's. Patrick helped develop the Medicaid Managed Care Program in Connecticut and was an executive of a Medicaid managed Care Company in the late 90's.

Carolan has been involved for many years in organizing faith based communities around social justice issues. He serves as an Ambassador and spokesperson for the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change. He helped start the National Partnership for Climate Solutions and is a frequent speaker on the faith perspective of caring for creation and ecological justice. He and his wife Stella have four children they are also foster parents and have adopted several children. He is the son of immigrants who came to America in 1950.
