Marian College supports Indiana Science Debate 2008.
The dates and venues for the Indiana gubernatorial debate have been set, and the Indiana Debate Commission is calling on Hoosiers to submit questions for the candidates.   In support of Indiana Science Debate 2008, Marian College has proposed that the candidates talk about science and technology.   Recently, president Daniel J. Elsener submitted a column for Columbian magazine, saying "Soon, Indiana gubernatorial candidates Jill Long Thompson and Mitch Daniels will begin a series of debates on issues of importance to Hoosiers. I propose that they debate the role science and technology will play in the future of Indiana’s economy." President Elsener also submitted three questions to the Indiana Debate Commission: How can Indiana best prepare our students to excel in math, science, engineering, and technology fields? How might our government mobilize businesses, community leaders, the large universities, and the 31 independent colleges and universities in Indiana to address the math and science education crisis? How can we position Indiana to be a true science and technology leader?   The college has created ablog about Indiana Science Debate 2008. All are welcome to log on and share their insights!
