The Richard G. Lugar Franciscan Center for Global Studies will host the annual Alumni Global Studies Speaker on Thursday, February 21, at 7 p.m. Nicole Hemmer, Ph.D., ’01 will present “Right Around the World: Conservative Media in the Anglosphere.” The lecture will be held in the Marian University Theatre and is open to the public at no charge, but registration is required.
Dr. Hemmer is a visiting assistant professor at the University of Miami, and a research associate at the United States Studies Center at the University of Sydney. She received her B.A. in psychology from Marian College, now Marian University, in 2001, and her Ph.D. in American history from Columbia University in 2010. Her writing on conservative politics and media has appeared in the New York Times Campaign Stops, The Christian Science Monitor, and the Spectator Australia, among others.
This lecture is part of the Global Studies Speaker Series presented by The Richard G. Lugar Franciscan Center for Global Studies. The center promotes the study of contemporary global issues with special attention to Marian University's core Franciscan values of dignity of the individual, peace and justice, reconciliation, and responsible stewardship. The Global Studies Speaker Series and other public events bring central Indiana's increasingly international and multi-cultural community onto the Marian University campus.
