Wil Hampton Joins Marian University

Marian University, central Indiana’s only Catholic liberal arts university, announced today that Wil Hampton has been hired to serve as the executive director of athletic events, sponsorship, and marketing. Hampton will be responsible for coordinating all marketing and fundraising activities associated with the university’s athletic programs.

Wil HamptonHampton joins Marian University after four seasons as director of production with the Indianapolis Colts. He has also worked with the Ball State University sports network for the past ten years as a freelance host and play-by-play announcer. Hampton previously served as the sports director and lead sports anchor at WISH TV-8 from 1998-2004, and as a sports reporter and anchor at WRTV-6 from 2004-06.

“The Marian University athletic department is riding a wave of momentum, highlighted by our football team’s 2012 NAIA national championship and our history of more than 20 national championships in cycling,” said Steve Downing, Marian University athletic director. “Wil Hampton will be able to couple that momentum with his familiarity of the local sports landscape, lifting the awareness and interest in Marian Knights athletics to an unprecedented level.”

Wil earned a bachelor of arts in journalism from the University of Mississippi. He, his wife Becky, and their three children are parishioners at Our Lady of Grace in Noblesville, Indiana.
