Football Season Opener on August 31 will Feature National Championship Trophy Presentation, Fireworks

by Geoffre Sherman | Aug 08, 2013

A new coaching staff is set to take the field when the 2012 NAIA football national champion Marian University Knights kick off defense of their title on Saturday, August 31 at St.Vincent Health Field on the Marian University campus.

In honor of Youth Football Day, kids wearing their youth football jerseys will be admitted free. The night will include fireworks, music, giveaways, and great football.

After a 12-1 season that culminated with a game-winning 26-yard field goal in overtime at Historic Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia, first-year head coach Mark Henninger not only has the task of leading the defending champions on the field but he runs into the daunting task of a schedule that features three NAIA Football Championship Series teams and two teams that made a run to the NAIA FCS quarterfinals.

Reserve your tickets today. For the complete schedule, visit www.muknights.com.

All of the Knights' home games will be video-streamed live and the road games will feature live audio on the Knights Athletics Network.
