Last weekend, Marian University welcomed 14 universities for the 15th Annual Central States Regional Ethics Bowl. At the end of the day’s competition, Taylor University finished first, Marian University earned second place, and DePauw placed third. With their second place finish, the Marian University team also earned a bid to the National Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl on February 27, 2014.

Ethics bowl is an event inspired by the nationally televised “College Bowl” and began in 1995 as an intercollegiate competition developed by faculty at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

“Hosting the Central States Regional Ethics Bowl gives Marian University the opportunity to serve the central states academic community in forming their students as the future ethical leaders of their communities. We’re committed to academic excellence and the ethical formation of our students,” said Karen Spear, Ph.D., director of the Center for Organizational Ethics and assistant professor of philosophy at Marian University.

Participating teams included: Bellarmine University, Butler University, DePauw University, Xavier University, and University of Louisville. Coached by David Denz, Ph.D., Marian University’s team included Josh Miller, Corey Fritz, and Dan Ross.
