Biography

John Lucich, MD joined the clinical faculty as an associate professor at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in August, 2014. His main teaching responsibilities are linked to the Introduction to Clinical Medicine series of course which helps students integrate topics of clinical medicine via problem based learning, standardized patient examinations, and experiences in the simulation laboratory.

Dr. Lucich earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1980 and a medical doctorate (MD) in 1984, both from Indiana University. He is residency trained and board certified in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Lucich began his practice career at St. Vincent Hospital in Emergency Medicine in 1987, but decided to enter academia in 1995. Initially, he helped start the physician assistant program at Butler University and simultaneously served as the Associate Director of Internal Medicine Education at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. In 1999 Dr. Lucich joined the physician assistant faculty on a full-time basis and served as the program’s director from 2001 until 2010.

His academic interests include the connections between basic science and clinical medicine, the process of clinical decision-making and the application of evidence-based medicine. His hobbies include mathematics/computer programming, small home renovation projects and riding his motorcycle.

Clinical/Research Interests

Dr. Lucich’s scholarly interests include the practice of evidence-based medicine and the application of technology in education.
