“The music professors at the university are my second family. They taught me about so much more than music. I learned life skills and I learned about myself.”

She says her Marian University experience defines her approach to teaching.

Ashley Chander took a lot of her Marian University experience with her into her career. Chandler began as a marketing major and added a music degree her junior year, with a concentration in instrumental performance.

“I started off playing just the clarinet and now I play just about all of the woodwinds,” she said. Now, Chandler is the artistic director of the Encore Performing Arts Academy and teaches piano, saxophone, flute, and clarinet from her own music studio. She currently has around 50 students. She also plays for local pit orchestras and enjoys opportunities to play for weddings once in awhile, as well as playing weekly for the worship team at her church. She also choreographs state-qualifying show choirs at both Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, and Twin Lakes High School in Monticello, Indiana. Outside of her freelance career in music and choreography, she also operates a successful e-commerce business working with several companies at the top of their industries. Chandler enjoys both of her entrepreneurial ventures and attributes much of her success to her dual education in music and marketing.
