Office Hours

Hold your office hours in the Academic Commons. Email academiccommons@marian.edu in advance to schedule and reserve a space, or just show up and ask for a table flag at the Help Desk on the first floor of Hackelmeier Memorial Library.

Space Reservations

Hold meetings, networking events, information sessions, workshops, office hours, etc. in Academic Commons spaces such as:

  • LIB 103 - Meeting Room (Library first floor, to the right of the elevator)
  • LIB 106 - Flex Space (Library first floor, to the right of the Help Desk)
  • LIB 008 - Basement Classroom
  • LIB 011 - Basement Classroom
  • LIB 016 - Library Auditorium
  • The Exchange Main Space
  • The Exchange Conference Room

Please refer to this Space Reservation Request form and email academiccommons@marian.edu with the details of your request.

Seminars, Workshops & Events

Please reach out to academiccommons@marian.edu if you have any ideas for sessions and workshops you would like to facilitate!

Recommend Additional Group Learning or Peer Tutoring

The Academic Commons hires Peer Tutors on a revolving basis, and Group Learning Leaders each semester. To ensure quality, we require faculty recommendations as part of the hiring process.

Please identify exemplary students from your course(s) this semester who meet the following qualifications:

  • Earned a B or higher for the course(s).
  • Timely individual.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong, professional communication skills.

 Email academiccommons@marian.edu your recommendations using the following format:

  • ABC-123 Recommended Tutors
    • Student Name, student.email@marian.edu

In-Class Public Speaking Support

Peer Tutors are available to help provide feedback on in-class practice presentations.

In-Class Presentations

We are available to provide presentations on topics such as Academic Commons services, library research, educational technology, career development, public speaking and writing skills.
