Suggestions

  • It’s never too early or too late to start the college search process. Encourage your student to visit our campus, attend an admissions event, and meet with an admission counselor. Schedule a Marian University campus visit online.
  • Help your scholar determine what is most important to when choosing a college. Discuss career and life goals, possible academic majors, extra-curricular activities, and evaluate the overall feel of a campus.
  • For many students, living on-campus is an essential part of the student experience. It will give your student the opportunity to meet new friends, live independently, and be close to the library and computer labs for study sessions.
  • Be aware that we offer 25 full-tuition scholarships to incoming 21st Century Scholars each year.
  • This scholarship is competitive and requires students to be accepted to Marian University, complete a scholarship application and participate in an on-campus interview.

Application Tips

For some students, writing responses to essay questions on a scholarship application is intimidating. You can offer your support by:

  • Talk with your student about his or her talents, abilities, and accomplishments and document them to ensure they are adequately reflected in the application essay.
  • Make sure your scholar follows application guidelines for length. Encourage your student to provide responses that are on topic.
  • Proofread your scholar's essay responses. Encourage students to use language that is correctly spelled, concise, and grammatically correct.
  • Submit your materials early and in advance of due dates. Meet all published deadlines.
  • Encourage and support your student's educational goals.
