Becky is a proud Hoosier, born and raised on the south side of Indy. She graduated from Marian University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in political science. “As much jumping around I did trying to answer the million dollar ‘what do I want to do for the rest of my life?’ question, I still managed to graduate in four years.”

Her love for Marian grew as a student which is primarily what brought her back as a full-time staff member. Some of her favorite college memories are when she worked as a student ambassador for the Office of Undergraduate Admission. This on-campus job involved providing campus tours to prospective students and serving as a student panelist for the larger scaled visits. As an ambassador, she related to prospective students and provided insight on transitioning from high school to college.

In her role as the events and communication coordinator, she manages the communication pieces and logistics for all events that pertain to undergraduate admission. Becky is responsible for coordinating events such as the Saint Mary Academic Scholarship Competitions, Accepted Student Day, Blue and Gold Days, and the Nursing Open House. She also assists with the management of day-to-day campus visits and the student ambassador program.

The most important piece of advice Becky would give to a high school student during their college search would be to trust your instincts. “When you are visiting various colleges, pay attention to the feelings you have while on the campus. Was the campus welcoming? Does the average class size provide you the individual attention you want? What activities are there for students to get involved in? These are all questions you need to ask yourself on each of your visits. Finding your fit when it comes to where you will spend the next four years is key. If you leave a visit feeling blown away by the campus, the students you talked to, or the faculty/staff you met, this is a good indication that you’ve found your new home.”

For life outside of work, Becky is committed to her passion for shark research and oceanic conservation. “If my roots weren’t firmly planted in Indiana, I imagine I would’ve moved near the ocean to study marine biology.” Becky also had the proud pleasure of representing her university and hometown in 2016 as a 500 Festival Princess—which she says is still to this day the coolest thing she has ever done.

"My focus is to enhance each prospective student's experience when they visit Marian.”
