The Office of Residential and Commuter Life has been so fortunate to watch the students at Marian excel in their passions this year through academics, athletics, leadership, campus ministry, and community engagement. We have enjoyed having many of our students live on campus. As your student prepares for the end of the spring semester, please know that campus housing closes on Friday, May 7, at 4 p.m. for non-graduating residence hall residents. Graduates, houses and apartment residents must check out by noon on Sunday, May 9.

The end of the semester can be a stressful time for students and families alike. The Office of Residential and Commuter Life wanted to provide some helpful tips for families on how to make the move out of the residence halls as smooth as possible.

  • Encourage your student to take items home throughout the month of April. Oftentimes, residents will have a pile of clothes they have not worn in a while or books and other supplies that are just collecting dust. Taking these items home before move out helps make the move-out day less stressful.
  • The week of finals has a different schedule, and vibe, than the rest of the year. Students do attend class, but rather, spend the time studying for their final exams and completing their final projects. During this time, students will need study breaks. Encouraging your resident to pack throughout the last week of the semester will help them have less stress on move-out day. It also presents an opportunity to reflect on the items and memories they have accumulated during the academic year.
  • Lots of students like to take full advantage of their time here by getting a summer internship. If your student has a summer internship opportunity and would like to live on campus during the summer, they should fill out the 2021 Summer Housing application on marian.erezlife.com.

Any questions or concerns can be sent to housing@marian.edu. It has been a pleasure having your student with us this year. We look forward to working with them through finals!
