Community living is an important part of your overall student experience in college. In order for community living to be successful, students agree to abide by the Marian University policies and procedures in our housing contract.
Completing an on-campus housing contract implies that you understand and consent to our policies.
Residential and Commuter Life strives to provide all students with a space to build connections and improve campus operations for the benefit of the student. As such, the office works to identify vacancies to consolidate residential spaces.
Consolidation is residential reassignment that occurs in response to a specific situation, including the following:
The expectations for this process will be communicated the 4th week of the semester and moves will start shortly thereafter. For rooms that are identified as part of the room consolidation process, multiple resolutions are available. These may include:
In the meantime, if there is a vacant space, please make sure to leave the space open for a new roommate.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact housing@marian.edu.
Note: Residential and Commuter Life (RCL) reserves the right to consolidate vacancies and/or reassign students, if necessary, for the most effective use of residential spaces. RCL will work with students involved in the consolidation process to determine the best option for them.
Residence halls close for Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring breaks. Students who are competing in university related athletics may be approved to stay over a particular break if requested by their coach. Students who need to stay on campus over these breaks for other reasons are required to apply to stay. Residents who apply to stay over break will get an email explicitly approving or denying their requests. Residents who are approved to stay for athletics do not need to apply individually and will still get an email approving their stay.
The application to stay over Thanksgiving Break will be released in October.
The application to stay for any part or all of Winter Break will be released in November.
The application to stay for Spring Break will be posted early in the spring semester.
Additional policies related to Marian University Residential and Commuter Life for students can be found in these documents. Please familiarize yourself with them before moving in to your campus residence.
