The primary goal of the Office of Educational Assessment and the Institutional Assessment Committee at Marian University is to continuously improve university educational outcomes through the creation of a strong culture of assessment by:
- Advancing equity-centered assessment among faculty and staff through workshops and easily accessible and understandable resources.
- Supporting institutional accreditation efforts (i.e., Higher Learning Commission) and academic programs going through program review.
- Sponsoring departmental/program assessment practices and interdisciplinary teams of faculty and staff in their efforts assessing student learning and engaging in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Engaging diverse groups and individuals from curricular and co-curricular units in the: (a) development and review of assessment plans and reports; (b) use of assessment findings at various levels; and (c) monitoring of changes stemming from assessment findings.
- Serving as the primary contact for and coordinating the administration of institutional surveys, such as the National Survey of Student Engagement and Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS) Consortium surveys.
- Sharing and ensuring the meaningful use of direct institutional data (e.g., Canvas) and indirect institutional data (e.g., HEDS Surveys) by various on- and off-campus audiences.
