The music education program at Marian University is a comprehensive course of study with practicum experiences beginning in the first semester. Our program focuses on integrated technology, social and emotional learning, and comprehensive musicianship. Students will study in small cohorts with individualized guidance from world class faculty. In partnership with the Klipsch Educator's College, the BA in Music Education will lead to an Indiana P-12 teaching license in instrumental and general or vocal and general music.
While at Marian you will have the opportunity to work one on one with a diverse group of educators. All music education faculty members have an extensive background in P-12 education. Our faculty work as teachers, conductors, clinicians, consultants, arrangers, performers, and researchers who contribute to the music education profession regionally, nationally, and internationally. For all students, we are dedicated mentors who counsel and support students’ professional development throughout their career. Our faculty are passionate and dedicated to helping create equitable opportunities of music education for all students in all environments.
The Department of Performing Arts welcomes all students of all backgrounds, cultures, and religions. The environment is open, creative, innovative, friendly, and supportive allowing all students to succeed. Students will have the opportunity to explore music from various cultures, genres, and belief systems including, but not limited to, social justice.
