COVID-19 Vaccination Health Professions Policy

In accordance with the expectations of our clinical partners, all students who engage in a clinical setting are required to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 (as defined by the Center for Disease Control) or have an approved exemption from being fully vaccinated prior to any clinical exposure or placement.

Students may request an exemption from the vaccine requirement for religious or medical reasons by submitting the exemption request form to empetsche@marian.edu. Students who receive an approved exemption will be provided with a form that constitutes proof of the exemption. That approval form must be uploaded into American Databank/Complio and/or Castlebranch.

Please know that any clinical affiliate or clinical training site may require additional documentation and an additional evaluation/approval process to satisfy their internal policies and expectations, failure to comply with these site-specific requirements may impact clinical placements.  Also, even if an exemption is granted by Marian University, a person still may not be able to participate at a clinical affiliate or clinical training site, due to policies and expectations of a specific institution, which may impact clinical placements. This may impact a student’s ability to progress in the curriculum or satisfy the requirements necessary for degree completion and graduation.

If a student tests positive for COVID, isolation requirements will be established in compliance with the CDC recommendations. It is possible for a student who tests positive and asymptomatic to participate in campus-based activities, but they may not be able to participate in a clinical environment based upon the internal policies and processes of the clinical site.
