Amanda Duba Pratt is currently a visiting professor and director of the Student Media
Center at Marian University. They blend a passion for the arts with a dedication to
teaching. With expertise in digital art, printmaking, and painting, they aim to inspire
creativity and critical thinking in their students, fostering an environment that
encourages both artistic and personal growth.
In 2023, Professor Pratt earned their Master of Fine Arts from IU Bloomington. Their
practice often explores themes of identity, community, and inclusivity, with a particular
focus on the intersection of art and advocacy.
Currently, they are leading a special project that aims to address the
underrepresentation of diverse individuals in STEM by bringing together Marian
University’s design and science programs to create a series of visually engaging posters.
These posters will showcase diverse role models in STEM and be exhibited across Marian
University and Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS), accompanied by outreach activities
that engage students in hands-on experiments and discussions. By highlighting diverse
individuals and providing students with relatable role models, the project seeks to foster
a sense of belonging and inspire students from all backgrounds to pursue careers in
STEM.
As an educator, Amanda believes that teaching goes beyond imparting technical skills—
it’s about nurturing the next generation to think deeply, act compassionately, and engage
with the world in meaningful ways. Driven by the belief that education is a powerful tool
for shaping the future, they see the classroom as a transformative space where students
can explore not only their artistic potential but also their capacity to impact society,
finding their voice both as artists and as individuals.
