We urge caution if you happen to receive a financial aid estimate from another institution, emphasizing our commitment to providing you with the most reliable and informed support throughout your academic journey.
While the exact timing of issuing financial aid packages remains unknown until we have the necessary info from the federal government, we encourage incoming students to review your Enrollment Checklist to ensure you are taking the necessary steps to start college this fall.
Congress passed the FAFSA Simplification Act to streamline the process of applying for financial aid.
The Federal Pell Grant program will expand to more students based on family size and the federal poverty level.
Instead of receiving an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC), which estimated what a family might be required to pay, families will receive a Student Aid Index (SAI). The SAI focuses on the amount of financial help a student might qualify for.
The SAI will not look at the number of family members in college. This means if you have a sibling or parent in college at the same time as you, your SAI may be higher than your EFC would have been. This could impact your need-based aid eligibility.
If your parents are separated or divorced, the parent to fill out the FAFSA will need to be the one who provides the most financial support, which may or may not be the parent you live with.
If your family owns a farm or small business, information regarding the value of the farm or business must now be included on the FAFSA. This could also impact your SAI.
There’s no time like the present! The FAFSA is available for completion at https://studentaid.gov. We strongly encourage you to have the form submitted no later than April 15.
Your offer will include federal, state (if applicable), and institutional awards.
