From being the number one overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft through his retirement this past year after helping the Broncos win Super Bowl 50, Peyton Manning scorched the record books and distinguished himself as arguably the best quarterback of his generation. Manning revolutionized the game with his talent and football IQ and made his unmatched leadership and quality of character his trademark.
His many on-field achievements throughout his 18 NFL seasons include:
A future Hall of Fame quarterback, Manning embodies what it means to be a professional athlete in today’s day and age, making a lasting impact both on and off the field. He has championed numerous charitable organizations and foundations to further his positive impact on the community, including the PeyBack Foundation, which he founded in an effort to help underprivileged youth in Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana and Tennessee. Peyton Manning has left his mark on the city of Indianapolis in a special way through his work with St. Vincent’s Children’s Hospital which was renamed Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in 2007.
Now, because of his outstanding dedication to being a leader in Indianapolis and cities across the country, and his ongoing commitment to others, Manning will be inducted into Marian University’s Clayton Family Circle of Honor on April 18, 2017.
The Clayton Family Circle of Honor was created in part to honor, but also to inspire. Joseph Clayton and his wife, Janet, agreed to lend their names to these awards because they believe in the character-building qualities associated with athletics in a university community. At Marian University, the faith tradition and values are activated in many ways, including athletics. On the fields and courts of competition, student-athletes learn respect, fair play, and teamwork. These values carry over into all areas of their lives: personal relationships, careers, parenthood, and community service.
