Marian Leadership Academy

Marian Leadership Academy programs are built with the primary focus of helping you develop the emotional and psychological capacity to exercise leadership any place, at any time, with any group of people and do so more effectively. Using cohort models, programs are built around Heifetz’ Adaptive Leadership framework to help you diagnose your system, design elegant interventions, and evaluate the results of those interventions. Regardless of where you are on your personal leadership journey, we have a program to meet your needs.

Programs We Offer

Building Level Administration licensure: Education (K-12)

For students already possessing a masters degree, the Building Level Administration (BLA) licensure-only program is designed for individuals interested in serving in school leadership roles. Courses address the Indiana requirements for principal licensure.

Master of Arts in Educational Leadership: Education (K-12)

The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program (MAEL) helps students prepare for the technical and adaptive work of leading in K-12 school buildings. The program meets the preparation Courses meet the requirements for Indiana principal licensure.

Master of Arts in Leadership Practice: Organizational Leadership

The Master of Arts in Leadership Practice (MALP) was designed for early to mid-career professionals who want to develop the leadership skills necessary to address the adaptive challenges they face in their teams and organizations. Like all of Marian’s leadership programs, the MALP is bult on Heifetz’ Adaptive Leadership framework and is specifically geared towards developing students’ ability to be effective in complexity and conflict; building emotional and psychological capacity to exercise leadership.

Education Specialist in District Level Leadership: Education (K-12)

Designed for individuals interested in licensure to lead a school district in Indiana, the Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in District Level Leadership includes all the leadership and superintendent courses required for licensure in the state of Indiana, without the research requirement. Students who complete this program are eligible to return later to complete the research project and be awarded the EdD in Organizational Leadership.

Executive Certificate in Advanced Leadership Practice: Organizational Leadership

This non-credit certificate program is designed for mid to late-career professionals in formal authority roles who recognize the complexity of the challenges faced in their organization and that unique skills are required to address those challenges. Built, like all programs in the Leadership Academy, on Heifetz’ Adaptive Leadership framework, participants will take two required courses (Adaptive Leadership and Transformation & Leading Change) and then choose one or more courses from a list of electives to complete their Certificate.

Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership: Organizational Leadership

Marian’s Doctor of Organizational Leadership (Ed.D.) program is intended for mid to late-career professionals in any organization who are responsible for a team or organization and interested in taking a deep dive into developing the leadership capacity needed for complex problems faced by their organization. The program offers two specializations: organizational leadership and superintendent licensure.
