Master's in Biomedical Sciences Program
The mission of the Marian University biomedical sciences master's program is to prepare students for careers in medicine or biomedical sciences through compassionate and supportive mentorship and a rigorous curriculum that will serve as a foundation for the next phase in the student’s career.
On August 24, 2011, we broke ground on the building that would house Indiana’s second medical school and the first to open in over 110 years. Our calling was to address the growing doctor shortage in the state, and since then, MU-WCOM has done just that—graduated hundreds of doctors, many of whom became primary care physicians who practice in Indiana.
What makes MU-WCOM special? It's located in Indianapolis, the nation's 16th-largest city. Our students embrace all the amenities and opportunities of big-city living while being supported personally and professionally by the kind of close-knit community small towns are famous for.
Explore our incredible facilities, the latest technology, community partnerships, and the Franciscan traditions that distinguish MU-WCOM.
Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) are fully licensed physicians with a medical degree and post-doctoral residency training (3-7+ years) that enables them to practice in any medical specialty.
In addition to receiving the same medical training as other physicians, osteopathic medical students are trained in osteopathic principles and practice and 200+ hours of osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). OMM is a hands-on approach to the diagnosis and treatment of patients. It has been proven effective in treating multiple injuries and illnesses and decreasing complications and length of hospital stays. Learn more about osteopathic manipulative medicine and its history.
MU-WCOM was founded in 2013 in the beautiful and vibrant city of Indianapolis, Indiana. Our osteopathic medical school shares the values of Franciscan institutions, dedicated to the education and nurturing of the mind, body, and spirit.
The integrated systems-based curriculum at MU-WCOM includes lectures, labs, simulations, case studies, small group learning, flipped classrooms, podcasts, and problem-based teaching and learning. The curriculum also provides early clinical experiences to guide and support you as you learn the art and science of osteopathic medicine.
The whole-person approach of osteopathic medicine is applied to our students as well! You will find our faculty and staff ready to support you personally and professionally to help you achieve your goals. Begin your medical career with us! Start your application today!
