Two Marian University graduates competed and made it to the next round of American Ninja Warrior, the hit NBC show where contestants tackle challenging obstacle courses in cities across the country.
The show took over Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis in April and alumnus Alex Bienz ’08 decided this might be his only chance to try an American Ninja Warrior course.
“I decided to into how the walk-on line works and ended up with a shot to run the course,” said Bienz.
And Bienz wasn’t the only Marian University alumnus to make it through the first round. Jonathan Cooley '08 first decided to compete when a couple of co-workers proposed the idea of training and trying out for the show.
“I was looking for a more exciting way to exercise and stay healthy than just lifting weights five days a week,” said Cooley.
The two graduates trained together for more than a year and both ended up not only getting a chance to run the course, but also advancing to the next round. Tune in to NBC on Monday, July 25 to see Indianapolis’ city finals.
