Jeanne Grammens Hidalgo began her career at Marian University teaching Introduction to Theology in Marian’s Adult Programs. Passionate for social justice and faith, Hidalgo made the move to campus ministry and became campus minister and coordinator of service and social justice.
Through her role on campus, Hidalgo provides spiritual guidance and mentoring for a variety of students. She directs Students Taking Active Reflective Roles (STARR), the Alternative Break program, the Post Graduate Service Fair, and the Rising Social Justice Retreat. She contributes to various service days including the First Day of Service and Leadership, Martin Luther King Day of Service, and Indy Do Day.
Prior to her work at Marian University, Hidalgo worked as a reporter for The Dialog, an Archdiocesan newspaper and later as the communications specialist for St. Francis Hospital, both in Wilmington, Delaware. Hidalgo has a master’s degree in pastoral studies and a certification in spiritual direction. She has been consistently involved in church ministry, specifically focused on feminine spirituality.

Q: What is your favorite part of working at Marian University?
A: My favorite part of working at Marian is being with the students, calling them to learn more about their faith and social justice and supporting them on their spiritual journey.
Q: What has been one of your favorite memories so far while working at Marian University?
A: I love working with the student leaders for the Rising retreat because we spend 14 weeks exploring Catholic Social Teaching and how our spirituality is developed through service and through growing in social consciousness.
Q: What are some of your goals for this school year?
A: To continue to develop authentically in my faith, while encouraging and supporting the spiritual growth of our students, faculty, and staff wherever I am called to do so.
Q: What are some upcoming volunteer/service opportunities for students?
A: STARR is an ongoing service opportunity for students. We will also have STARRY nights, which is service on Saturdays, to include Saints in the Streets on October 1 and Indy Do Day on Friday, September 30.
