ArtBody Language, featuring ceramic artwork created by Beth Overfield, will be on display in the Marian University Art Gallery located in the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences from August 22–October 5, 2017.  A closing reception of the exhibit will be held October 5, from 4-6 p.m. A Pit Fire workshop led by Beth Overfield and Deborah Ball will take place on October 3, 2017 from 9-4pm outside the Caretakers Cottage located on the Marian University campus.  Overfield and Ball will discuss the pit fire process with a Process Presentation on October 5, 2017, from 1-3pm in Ceramic Studio located in the basement of Clare Hall. The exhibit, reception, workshop and presentation are free and open to the public.

Overfield’s figurative ceramic sculptures display a combination of architectural elements and human anatomy. Her work tells the story of her past and present self. Part of Overfield’s process is going through old sketchbooks, photo albums, and past love letters. She then creates inviting clay surfaces where the figure becomes one with architectural elements allowing the viewer a glimpse into her past.

Beth Overfield received her Bachelor of Science Visual Arts degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 2007. Overfield has taught a variety of age groups including elementary, middle school and high school art. She currently is the Art Instructor at Hagerstown Jr.-Sr. High School in Hagerstown, Ind. Overfield has exhibited her artwork in various group exhibitions including Master Teacher Lenny Dowhie at the Evansville Museum in Evansville, Indiana and All in the Family at New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art in New Harmony Indiana.

The Marian University Art Gallery (Evans Center) is located on the north end of the second floor of the Michael Evans Center for Health Sciences on the Marian University campus.
