Ellie Lough ’19, a junior business management major, is spending her summer interning for Marian University’s Office of Institutional Advancement.
Ellie’s duties include: updating and ordering bricks and pillar for recognition opportunities, updating reports to keep track of donations from specific events, and promoting and keeping track of Marian University license plate purchases.
Ellie enjoys the people she works for and learning about what it takes to help fund projects around campus such as the new buildings.
“I have learned a lot about the process of fundraising,” states Lough. “There are so many little pieces that are involved, and I didn’t realize that until I started my internship. I think by understanding the ins and outs of fundraising, I can be more successful in my future.”
Lough hopes to work for a non-for-profit organization after graduation, which was why the Office of Institutional Advancement interested her.
“If anything, I have asked to be challenged more,” says Lough. “I think that this internship will teach me things that a classroom can’t, so I want to get as much experience as possible.”
Lough also runs Knightro’s Kids Club, which is a way that Marian University Knights fans in eighth grade and under can support athletics, attend sporting events, and receive special prizes. Learn more about the club here.
