Martine Camblor, assistant professor of French and director of the language center and foreign language placement testing, was named Teacher of the Year 2017 at the collegiate level at the Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association (IFLTA) 2017 conference.
Camblor was recognized for her dedication to teaching, development of French programs with innovative curriculum activities, and service to the community.
"I am very happy to be the recipient of the award for my 20 years teaching in Indianapolis, including 17 years of accomplishments at Marian University," Camblor said.
Camblor was nominated for the award after receiving the French Teacher of the Year 2017 award from the Indiana chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF).
Throughout her career, Camblor has made efforts to enrich her students’ experiences beyond the classroom. She developed study abroad programs to France and Canada, facilitated internship opportunities abroad, and implemented a tutoring program—partnering her students with immigrant children of the Catholic, French-speaking community in Indianapolis.
“I am proud to represent Marian University in the field of word language instruction and services in the State of Indiana,” Camblor said.
Marian University awarded Camblor with the Franciscan Values Award in 2015 and the Global Citizen Award in 2016.
Congratulations, Martine!
