Indianapolis – Medical Illustrations, an exhibition featuring illustrations by Amanda Tomasikiewicz, will be on display in the Marian University Art Gallery located in the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences from August 26-October 4, 2019. An artists’ presentation and reception will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. Tomasikiewicz will present a workshop discussing various strategies on critique on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 1-2:30 p.m. The workshop will take place in the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences, Room 213B. The exhibit, reception, and workshop are generously funded by the Talbot Street Art Fair and are free and open to the public.
Amanda Tomasikiewicz is a board certified medical illustrator who provides medical illustration services worldwide. Tomasikiewicz specializes in plastic and aesthetic surgery topics. Her illustrations are included in textbooks, patient education, surgical video content, and interactive applications. Most of Amanda’s illustrations demonstrate surgical technique-based instruction allowing the target audience to grasp difficult and intricate anatomical concepts.
Tomasikiewicz graduated from Alfred University School of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2009. In 2011 Tomasikiewicz graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern at Dallas with a Master of Arts degree in Biomedical Communications. Amanda has received several awards for her illustration work including Dean’s Excellence Award for Scientific Illustration in honor of Lewis Boyd Waters, Association of Medical Illustrations Award of Merit for Illustrated Textbook, and she became a Board Certified Medical Illustrator in 2015.
The Marian University Art Gallery (Evans Center) is located on the north end of the second floor of the Michael Evans Center for Health Sciences on the Marian University campus.
