Ranking follows the university’s highest-ever student enrollment for the 2021-22 academic year
Marian University has been ranked the #2 Most Innovative School among Midwest Regional Universities for 2022 according to U.S. News & World Report's annual college and universities rankings.
This announcement follows Marian welcoming the largest-ever student enrollment in the university’s history this fall— with over 4,100 students, a 10 percent increase from Fall 2020—taking classes at the Indianapolis and Ancilla campuses, at the Nashville and Oklahoma City nursing sites, and online.
“I am gratified to see our ongoing efforts in innovation reflected in this year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings,” said President Daniel J. Elsener. “We are dedicated to preparing students for the real world through discussion, hands-on learning, and by leveraging technology to keep us connected. Innovation, teaching, and mentorship through personalized attention and career preparation is a powerful combination that benefits our graduates as they prepare to be transformational leaders.”
The Most Innovative School rankings were the result of nominations from college presidents, provosts, and admissions deans nationwide, who identified schools making the most innovative improvements towards curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology, and facilities. Marian moved up one spot in the rankings from #3 last year and is one of only two Indiana universities to make this list.
In addition, Marian was recognized as #15 for Best Undergraduate Teaching among Midwest Regional Universities—its first time to be recognized with this ranking and up one spot from last year to achieve #27 in Overall in the Regional Universities Midwest category.
Marian’s record student enrollment is bolstered by adding a new campus location in Plymouth, Indiana, Ancilla College of Marian University, with more than 250 students and by doubling the number of first-year 21st Century Scholars.
