Marian University is making plans to expand online programs to serve more students in Indiana and beyond. The university is pleased to announce Lindsay Roberts as the first Assistant Vice President of Online Programs. Effective March 1, Roberts will lead the vision of offering enhanced online program choices to all kinds of degree seeking students as well as developing more educational options for traditional students. Roberts will report directly to Marian’s Chief Operating Officer and Chancellor Kenith Britt, Ph.D.
“We are inspired by the significant leadership experience, wisdom, and innovation Lindsay brings with her to Marian University,” explained Britt, Ph.D. “She is a transformational leader who will build upon the strength of our Marian Adult Programs of the last twenty years and help grow the number of Marian graduates who transform classrooms, businesses, churches, healthcare, and so much more. Since opening our doors in 1937, Marian has been committed to meeting the needs of our students and communities by offering high value degrees, opening multiple campus and site locations, and now we are well-positioned to expand our online program offerings to provide more students a virtual values-based education.”
According to the global management consulting firm McKinsey and Company, over the last decade, higher education has embraced the power of online learning and expanding program offerings to better meet the needs of students, especially adult learners. From 2011 to 2021 the number of online learners increased from 300,000 to 220 million. During the pandemic, Marian invested in additional online learning tools and training that we can now utilize to expand our online division.Prior to joining Marian University, Roberts served most recently at Purdue University Online on the leadership team. She also worked as director of the Center for the Advancement of Learning at the University of Evansville prior to joining Purdue University Online. Lindsay holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Purdue University and a master’s degree in leadership from Trine University.
“I am eager to collaborate with the talented Marian faculty and staff to provide flexible educational pathways for students and grow the university’s online division by offering more high-quality, highly personalized, and in-demand professional, continuing and online programs to learners in Indiana and beyond,” said Roberts.
