Marian University Shines Bright in recent Medical STEM Award

Congratulations to Marian University on receiving the “Inclusive ExcellenceMedical STEM Award 3 Initiative” Award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). This award is a six-year grant that is offered as a challenge to 104 colleges and universities around the country to substantially build capacity for student belonging. The Inclusive Excellence 3 Initiative works to create an advance in diversity and inclusion within the sciences. Marian is part of Learning Community Cluster 5 with the goal to work on projects to understand, promote, and evaluate inclusive teaching:

- Belonging in STEM

- Data to support and evaluate change data to drive change

- Pathways to faculty evaluation structures and rewards

- Common definitions

- Faculty development

The project period is 11/1/2022-10/31/2028 led by Sarah Klanderman, Ph.D., assistant professor of mathematics.  Dr. Evan Casey and Dr. Julia Baumgardt will serve as two of Marian’s Team Leaders.
