Browning Family Partners with Marian University to Provide $5 Million in Scholarships for Aspiring Teachers

Marian University announces a generous $5 million dollar commitmentEducation Students from Michael Browning and the Browning family. The gift makes possible the immediate launch of the Browning Scholars program, a full-tuition scholarship for future teachers enrolling in the Fred S. Klipsch Educators College.

The Browning Scholars program aims to address the growing American teacher shortage by covering up to the entire cost of tuition for 21st Century Scholar or Next Generation Hoosier Educator Scholar students. "The nation needs us to prepare diverse and talented students with the knowledge and skill to serve as teacher-leaders who inspire young people and make a difference in the schools and communities they serve. Continuing our fresh approach to teacher education, transforming schools throughout the United States is our top priority. The Browning Scholars Program goes a long way to making this goal a reality," says LaTonya Turner, Ph.D., dean of the Fred S. Klipsch Educators College.

“My interest in Marian includes its mission to educate talented young people from middle and under-resourced families. Our family has been blessed being part of the Indianapolis community and the Browning Scholars program will enable more young people to have a great future through a better education with a special emphasis on future teachers," said Michael Browning.

The Browning family scholarship will be available immediately to incoming freshmen beginning Fall 2023. A total of ten students will be selected as Browning Scholars.
