Launched in Spring 2023, the inaugural Summer Scholars program received 14 applications from a variety of academic disciplines. The Summer Scholars program is the next iteration of undergraduate research support on campus and partners individual students with individual faculty mentors to complete a collaborative scholarly project. Each Summer Scholar will receive a competitive stipend, housing, and funding for travel and supplies needed to complete the proposed project. The Summer Scholars will not only make new discoveries, but also gain communication, writing, and ethical conduct of research skills that fulfill Marian’s educational promise of building transformational leaders. Meanwhile, faculty will grow their scholarship alongside these Summer Scholars and develop their mentorship skills. Congratulations!
The 2023 Summer Scholar and Mentor pairs are as follows:
Arthur Ehringer and Dr. Alexandra Tamerius (Chemistry)
Zane Kaufman and Dr. Zachary Sylvain (Biology)
Linet Rivas and Dr. Robert Denton, PhD (Biology)
The 2023 Summer Scholars program will take place May 31-August 9th, 2023. Future plans include increasing the amount of Summer Scholars and making this an annual Marian University program.
