Congratulations to Sumathilatha Sakthi Velavan, MBBS, DGO, MS, Marian 
University's associate professor of anatomy. The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) awarded her a Society of Osteopathic Medical Educators (SOME) Innovation Award for developing virtual microscopy podcasts to help students learn histology.
The prestigious award represents the merit members place upon professional work, and the value innovative projects provide to the medical and educational community. In their award recognition, SOME leadership and AACOM said they were impressed with Dr. Sakthi Velavan's contributions and hope her contributions reinforce her commitment and engagement in osteopathic medical education.
