It is a great year to represent Marian University's College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM). Second-year medical students Meghann Roessler '26 and Wyatt Reed '26 believe that.
The students represented Indiana at the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA) and MU-COM at this year's American Medical Association (AMA) annual meeting. The students attended as part of a larger group of medical students, including Indiana University medicine students.
The annual meeting, held in Chicago, Illinois, is where members of medical associations such as ISMA voted on resolutions and advocated for policies. The delegates in attendance sponsored resolutions on non-compete clauses, crack cocaine incarceration, and gender-affirming care and delivered expert opinions on American Indiana and Native American affairs.
Students also discussed other opinions and documentation. The medical world is taking advocacy by storm, and Roessler and Reed were part of the action. Great work living out the Franciscan Values!
