Marian University's Ancilla College (MUAC) is home to another Shining Star, Lauryn Swain. This sophomore Exercise Science Major began her journey to success at Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana, when she discovered her love for education and basketball. Initially, Swain was set to attend an alternate university, but her experience with the Charger's basketball coach, Ryan Gould, led to her interest in MUAC. After connecting with the coach and the lasting impression she found on the campus after visiting, Swain knew that MUAC was the school for her. Since attending MUAC, Swain has thrived both academically and athletically.
"My success is definitely attributed to the hands-on, one-on-one approach provided both in the classroom and with success coaching," Swain shared. This personalized approach, she said, has allowed her to excel in her studies and explore a variety of career paths. While Swain said she loves basketball, she also holds a passion for the exercise science program.
"A lot of the credit goes to my professor Matt Ferriter," Swain reflects, "for making the classes enjoyable and for providing options and opportunities within the field."
