Marian University has a new vice president of innovation and growth. Chris Creighton, who most recently served as chief of staff for the Indiana Department of Transportation and previously as Legislative Director for Governor Eric Holcomb, will serve in Marian's Office of the President.
"This new role presents a unique opportunity to drive change, inspire creativity, and shape the future of Marian University and the community we serve, said Creighton. "Together with the talented leaders at Marian, I am committed to embarking on this journey of dynamic innovation, shaping a future that reflects our commitment to excellence, and preparing transformational leaders."
Marian University president Daniel J. Elsener explained more about Creighton's role, stating that Marian has always had the courage to venture in an innovative and mission-driven manner. Creighton will work closely with President Elsener, Marian's chancellor and chief operating officer Kenith Britt, Ph.D., and other senior team members to assess the viability of potential strategic programs. One of those responsibilities includes leading a project team regarding a new Innovation Center on Cold Spring Road that formerly housed the Indianapolis Veterans Administration Hospital and, most recently, Larue Carter State Hospital.
"Marian is called to serve beyond campus boundaries to advance the common good in every way possible,” said President Elsener. "This commitment to innovation calls for an outstanding vice president, and leader committed to helping faculty and staff, various departments, and students to bring even more innovation and growth," President Elsener added.
Creighton will also assist in government matters and maintaining relationships with business partners and developers while managing and overseeing specific strategic projects. "Chris is a highly talented, innovative, committed, brilliant mission leader who has joined the Marian University community to accelerate innovation and growth,” said President Elsener.
Creighton started his new duties in December 2023.
